Salem Wash Day

I saw a felt clothesline in a UK sewing magazine, Pretty Patches Issue 40.
Designed  by Corinne Lapierre.

Anyhow, this is my version, for Alex's dorm room:)

I found the tiny clothespins at JoAnns.
It's hard to see, but there's a cauldron, shoes and stockings, cat, hat, pumpkin, dress and bloomers.

 Happy Halloween!

Novelty Bags

A neighbor wants bags for their farmer's market. Not a problem:)
Especially as they are supplying the novelty prints!

This first one is from pre-quilted yardage. There is stabilizer in the band, and 1/4" binding on the handles. This was fun, and I like how it looks with 4 fabrics.

For the casino bag, I diamond quilted 2 novelty prints with regular foot and guide arm. I made big 1.5" diamonds in Warm & Natural scraps. This time the stabilizer is in the straps instead of the band. This bag took forever.

Next time I'll try a loftier craft bat, and smaller quilting motifs, more like the premade stars-n-stripes. And I need to do something to save time on these. Maybe fusible batting and a full lining, instead of the reversible band?
Do you have any timesaving tricks for bag design?

Coming next......Nascar!

Paper Star

Wow, this is the earliest I have ever finished a Christmas project.
So this is my Thankful Thursday; that I am getting stuff done! Not everything....but stuff:)

Don't you just LUV a Homespun Christmas?

I used pieces from my giant stash bag of ginghams, plaids, and homespuns.
How do you sort your stash? I sort by theme, function, and size:
  • Christmas
  • Thanksgiving
  • Halloween
  • Summertime (Patriotics, Sunflowers and Beaches)
  • Kitchen Noveltys (beer, wine, coffee, LOL)
  • checks/plaids
  • Florals and Springtime
  • FQ and smaller blenders
  • 2.5" strips
  • stuff not for quilting
  • flannel
Right now, Christmas stash is taking up the most space. Lots of UFOs planned in there. But all my favorite "too nice to cut" fabrics are in the Thanksgiving pile.

LOL I used stabilizer here by mistake, instead of a fusi-web. So I went ahead and fringed the toe and heel.

I think Foundation Paper Piecing is trending. Is it just me, or are you too seeing lots of paper pieced stars lately?

Of course, I ALWAYS forget to add the hanging tab! No matter how many socks I make, they end-up with tacked on tabs, added afterwards, never in-seam as planned. Whatever:)

Handy Pumpkins

I'm having so much fun with cotton yarn. It is making me perfect my crochet tension.

I'm trying filet pumpkin washcloths. It's been a bit tricky to get them square, while keeping the pumpkins round enough.

Any suggestions?
What edge finish do you like for washcloths?
